Hi, my name is Kai Sam, and I am a sophomore at the University of West Florida. Once completing my bachelors of Exercise Science at UWF, I hope to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) to get me started on the path of becoming a physical therapist, specifically in the sports setting. From a young age I have always been trying to help others, whether it was helping friends with homework, tutoring in elementary schools during high school, working with local food banks, or even traveling across the world to Southeast Asia to volunteer in a number of ways. I am always trying to support others, and I believe that physical therapy allows me to do just that. I have seen how injuries could affect someone both physically and mentally. My goal as an aspiring physical therapist is to help with the physical pain to aid the relief of the mental pain.

Many of my personal interests also align with my professional goals of becoming a physical therapist. I enjoy anything having to do with soccer. I still play intramural at UWF, while also watching and supporting my team Chelsea who play in the Premier League. While watching I also analyze injuries during the game to try and learn from them. I absolutely love traveling to embrace myself and experience new cultures, foods, and sights. While traveling I get to enjoy new things such as scuba diving, hanging out with elephants, or even just talking to locals about their home. I learn so much while traveling and it helps me learn how everyone’s experiencing something different and that everyone could use some support. Throughout my work and doing the things I enjoy I have grown so much and hope to continue to better myself in order to better others.
