Construction

While volunteering in both Thailand and Laos, I was able to support and aid in the construction of farms and other village buildings. In Thailand, I was able to create walls and fences out of bamboo to create a sustainable farm for a village school. In Laos, I was able to help with the foundation of a kitchen for a village school..

Being a part of these projects gave me a sense of fulfillment I have never felt before. These projects gave me the chance to help improve the quality of these children's lives, and I know that these small improvements in their village will impact them in a way I wouldn't normally be able to. Not only did I learn new things about construction and the way of living, but I also feel a new sense of purpose to help others.

That sense of purpose to help others is one of the reasons why I want to be a physical therapist and getting to experience this just makes me want to be one even more. Being able to help others improve their quality of life by helping them recover from an injury seems so fulfilling to me.
